Hotel Hong, Melaka

Hotel Hong is located a little away from the ever overcrowded Jonker Street.  It is about 7 minutes walk. Coming from Jonker Walk – walk along the small road (Jalan Tukang Emas) where there is a mosque called Kampung Kling Mosque – when you see  Jonker Gallery, turn right and a Chinese temple is on the other side – proceed straight,  turn left and turn right where you can see a Chong Sek restaurant – straight and turn right to Jalan Masjid – Hotel Hong is just 2 minutes away.

Very straight-forward.  Just pay.  No receipt.  Need to pay MYR2 heritage tax per night.  Hotel Hong provides shuttle service to and fro from Melaka Sentra bus terminal for check in and out.  Just inform them of your arrival and departure time.

We booked the Luxury Quadruple room with attached bathroom for 2 nights at MYR150 per night. No breakfast.  Though no breakfast, owner bought some curry puffs in the morning for guests.  Good gesture.

2 double beds meant for 4 adults though we are only 3 adults.  Bed sheets were fairly clean.  Bed was comfortable to enable me to have a good night rest.

Wifi was generally strong.  Room is big enough for us.  Located at ground floor.  There is no lift here.
Flat screen Tv.  Aircon and ceiling fan.  Unfortunately, there is no kettle.  For hair dryer,  you have to request for it from the front desk.  Though housekeeping is done daily, we found there were mosquitoes in the room.

Clean.   No separation of toilet and bath.  Towels are provided with free toiletries.  However, towels were old and seemed heavily used.  Hot and cold water pressure was strong.  I like the rain shower head.

My thoughts
This is a basic stay with basic needs.  With its price, it is a good stay for a few nights.  For those who do not drive like us, the free shuttle service is an added bonus.
Like in most guesthouses, the owner is there most of times.  This in turn gives an added personalized service if you require assistance.
