A fine WordPress.com site
Because of the super long weekends, we decided to go for a short trip to Melaka. It turned out this was worst jam I had ever experienced in all my holidays in Malaysia.
Normally, we would go to Larkin Bus Terminal in Johor Bahru to purchase the coach tickets. Knowing it is going to be crowded and tickets may be sold out, I decide to purchase the coach tickets from Singapore. Bought it from Starmart Express from Beach road at SGD25 per head.
It took about 2 hours to reach and clear the Singapore immigration and customs via 2nd Link. Massive traffic congestion. More nightmare to come. It was totally standstill to reach the Malaysia immigration and customs. Moving inch by inch, we could only manage to clear after 4 hours of useless waiting time. It was scorching hot. Fortunately, the super VIP coach was comfortable and cool. Wasted one whole day in this dreaded jam ! By the time we reached Melaka Sentral, it was almost 7pm. Quickly, we had McDonald as we were famished.
We booked 7 Days Inn for non-smoking triple room with attached bathroom at MYR336 (without tax) through Booking.com for 2 nights. Breakfast included.
It is just opposite the newly opened The Shore shopping mall. Location is good. About 20 minutes walk on the riverside path to Jonker Street.
Whenever there is a super long weekends period, Melaka is flooded with Singaporeans. It is people and more people everywhere. For those popular food stalls, long queues were a common sight. I reckon why Melaka is so appealing is due to its proximity to Singapore. The current attractive exchange rate may also play a big part. Relatively affordable. Super long weekends also mean does not need to take leave = massive crowd and congestion…..
For the rest of our trip, I will let the pictures to do the talking ->
